Health Information Technology Editor

FierceMarkets, an online media company based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced, full-time editor to cover Health IT for FierceHealthcare.com and its email newsletters. This position is based in Washington, D.C., but applicants outside of the region may be considered for a telework position.

The editor will be responsible for daily news reporting in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and management of special projects, such as in-depth reports, eBooks, webinars and live event panel moderation.

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the editor will oversee the day-to-day operations and activities for all Health IT coverage.

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the business of healthcare as it relates to mobility and telehealth, EHRs, IT security, precision medicine, health data analytics and interoperability, among other topics. A commitment to editorial quality and the ability to establish a trusted relationship with readers employed in Health IT is critical.

Job Description:
 Identify and write daily stories and long-form features targeted to a sophisticated audience of healthcare executives and leaders.
 Interview industry leaders and serve as the main contact for FierceHealthcare’s editorial advisory board.
 Oversee editorial development of advanced products, including eBooks and webinars.
 Attend key conferences and trade shows as the public face of FierceHealthcare: IT. Cover news from the show, take briefings, and moderate panels and events.
 Engage and build audiences using SEO tactics and social media best practices.

Qualifications:
 3+ years of editorial experience with at least 1 covering healthcare and/or technology.
 Degree in journalism/communications (print or web) or English.
 Experience with daily online journalism, general understanding of SEO tactics, and familiarity with social media platforms.
 Ability to create original content and identify topics that resonate with readers.
 Track record of successful project management.
 Ability to work independently to achieve deadlines.
 Experience with digital newsroom tools and strategies
 Familiarity with a content management system.
